Do I have enough time to devote to a child for one year?

Consider what you already do during the week and could you incorporate a Little Brother or Sister into activities you already do.  From watching t.v. to shopping there are lots of activites that would be FUN if you let a kiddo hang out with you while you were doing it.  There are also those things that you would like to do, but you haven't set the time aside to do them (working out, going to musems, watching movies), if you had a Little Brother or Sister you could take the time to enjoy activities you wouldn't normally treat yourself to.

I'm on a limited budget, do I have the money to be a Big Brother or Sister?

There is an expectation that you will spend some money on the child you are matched to.  You may take the Little out to eat or to the movies, buy them a birthday present, etc., but you can balance that with doing activities that are free as well.  If you begin a match with always doing things that cost then it will become an expectation of the Little, but if you have a good mix of going to your house and playing board games, working out at the Joplin Family Y, or going to the park, then your Little will be fine with whatever activity you come up with cost or not.
